Confidence Credit — the full rules
Choosing a Precision Basemap can feel like a gamble when none of the available options matches your combination of parts exactly. Basemaps.net Confidence Credit takes the gamble out of it: buy the closest eligible Precision Basemap, share what actually happened on your bike within 14 days, and earn one free compatible alternative map for the same motorcycle — plus 10% off a future paid basemap purchase.

What you can earn
- A free compatible alternative map. One additional Precision Basemap compatible with the same VIN, at no charge, when you share a tested result for an eligible purchase within 14 days of payment.
- 10% off a future paid basemap purchase. Every completed review of a purchase earns this — inside the 14-day window or after it. Reviewing the free alternative map earns another 10% discount (not another free map).
"Actual results" — unsuccessful outcomes count
The free map is earned by a tested result, not by a good review. You flashed the file and can tell us what happened: it started and you rode it; you ran it on a dyno; it started but idled or ran poorly; or it would not start at all. Every one of those counts. No successful ride and no positive rating is required — we want the honest outcome, good or bad.
A review that says the file has not been installed yet is still a completed review and still earns the 10% discount, but it is not a tested result, so it does not earn the free map. You can come back and report the outcome once you have tried it — as long as the 14-day window is still open.
The 14-day window is measured to the minute
The window closes exactly 14 × 24 hours after the payment instant, not at the end of the 14th calendar day. If you paid on a Tuesday at 3:42 PM, the deadline is two Tuesdays later at 3:42 PM. Your account shows that deadline in your local time, with the clock, on the purchase itself and under "Your next step" — so you are never guessing whether "day 14" means morning or midnight.
Two different 90-day clocks
- Map credit: 90 days after it is granted. The clock starts the moment your tested result is received and the credit appears in your account — not on the purchase date and not on the review date.
- Review discount: 90 days after the review that earned it. This clock starts when that review is saved, independently of any map credit.
The two clocks run separately. Your account lists each benefit with its own expiration, in your local time.
Using your map credit
- Sign in and open your account. An available credit appears under "Your next step" and in the Confidence Credit section with Choose another compatible map.
- That button opens Find My Tune with the same VIN already entered and searched for you — nothing to re-type. Pick an available compatible Precision Basemap that is different from the one you bought.
- At checkout choose Use my Confidence Credit — free compatible map, accept the agreement, and the download opens in your account with nothing charged.
The same VIN, tuner, cooling, ECM, and O2 checks apply to a credit as to a paid purchase — a credit never skips them. It is tied to the same account and the same VIN. Alternative maps are subject to availability: if no different compatible Precision Basemap is available for that VIN while the credit is valid, the credit cannot be used.
Eligibility
- A paid retail purchase of a Precision Basemap, made from a signed-in customer account, with a valid 17-character VIN on the order, while the program is active.
- One free map per eligible original purchase. The free alternative map, free map tokens, subscriptions, and purchases made before the program started do not earn a free map.
- One review discount per verified purchase review, one discount per paid checkout. It stacks with an Authorized Referral code.
- Purchases made while the program is paused do not earn. Benefits you already earned stay usable until their own expiration, even during a pause.
Where you will see it
A short line on each result card, an invitation on the results list when your exact parts combination is not cataloged, a note on Review & checkout, the benefit for your purchase right under "Go to download" after you buy, and "Your next step" at the top of your account. Every one of those reflects your actual eligibility — a purchase whose window has closed is offered the 10% discount, not the free map.

FAQ
Does my feedback have to be positive to earn the free map?
No. The free compatible alternative map is earned by sharing a tested result — it started and you rode it, you ran it on a dyno, it ran poorly, or it would not start. Unsuccessful outcomes count. No successful ride and no positive rating is required.
When exactly does the 14-day Confidence Credit window close?
Exactly 14 × 24 hours after the payment instant — not at the end of the 14th calendar day. Your account shows the deadline for each purchase in your local time, with the clock.
How long is the free map credit good for, and is that the same as the review discount?
They are two different clocks. The map credit is usable for 90 days after it is granted. The 10% review discount is usable for 90 days after the review that earned it. Your account lists each expiration separately.
Can I use the Confidence Credit on a different motorcycle?
No. The credit is tied to the same account and the same VIN, and it must be used on a different compatible Precision Basemap than the one you bought. The same VIN, tuner, cooling, ECM, and O2 checks apply.
Does reviewing the free alternative map earn another free map?
No. Reviewing the free map earns another 10% review discount. One free map is earned per eligible original purchase.
What if there is no alternative Precision Basemap for my bike?
Alternative maps are subject to availability and compatibility. Basemaps.net only invites you to earn a free alternative when more than one compatible Precision Basemap is listed for your bike. If no different compatible file is available while the credit is valid, the credit cannot be used.
Where every Precision Basemap comes from
Every Precision Basemap on Basemaps.net was created from a real dyno session by Matt Smith, owner and architect of Basemaps.net — not generated, simulated, or otherwise made artificially. He built this catalog to help the entire tuning industry share those files.
Each file is sold as it was the day it was created, for the exact combination of parts on the motorcycle in that session — the real deal, nothing turned down. Before a file is offered for sale it passes several quality checks in our system. The catalog operating system applies the same matching rules to every published file so the same VIN, tuner, and parts combination is evaluated the same way.
If you have a concern — or want to give praise
After you buy and download, open your account. Each purchase has Leave Feedback. Use it to rate the Precision Basemap, note a concern, or say what went well. That form is for quality review. It is not phone support and does not open a ticket.
If Find My Tune has no file yet
When the catalog has no match for your bike and parts, you can join the Precision Basemap Waitlist on that empty-results screen. Leave your email and the combination you searched. We email a purchase link when that file is published. That is not a custom map emailed instead of a catalog file, and it is not offered for platforms we do not sell (Sportster and V-Rod).
