How Basemaps.net works
Basemaps.net is a self-service marketplace for dyno-developed Harley-Davidson Precision Basemaps. It serves individual retail riders and professional tuning shops. A dealer account is not required for a standalone purchase.

Core calibration mechanics
Every Precision Basemap begins as a completed, fully developed dyno calibration built on a real motorcycle. When deployed on another compatible motorcycle, it remains a completed calibration for that parts combination — not a claim that two motorcycles are mechanically identical.
The motorcycle itself determines baseline hardware compatibility. The installed parts list is used to identify and rank the closest available Precision Basemap. A customer’s air cleaner, exhaust, camshaft, or throttle body does not need to duplicate the original development motorcycle component-for-component. A part variance is not a baseline incompatibility. The comparison tools show which components match and which differ before selection.
Technical safeguards and gating
The VIN serves strictly as an automated compatibility safeguard. It verifies the underlying vehicle family to block downloads meant for an incompatible ECM generation or application. It is not a social identity check and not a substitute for confirming installed parts.
Gated dealer or shop accounts are entirely optional. Individual riders create a free account and purchase single Precision Basemaps directly. Paid shop memberships exist as an optional efficiency tier for high-volume commercial businesses — see program pricing.
Strict self-service architecture
The system automates vehicle identification, build description, file ranking, secure payment, and immediate download. Basemaps.net does not provide remote tuning, individual calibration consulting, data-logging coaching, or hardware device training. It does not instruct customers on altering volumetric efficiency (VE), spark, knock, or load tables.
Customers seeking hands-on technical assistance can use the Pro-Level Dyno Shop Locator to find and contact independent local facilities directly. Basemaps.net does not manage appointments, evaluate local workmanship, or act as an intermediary in service transactions.
Field realities and final optimization
A Precision Basemap is a completed, dyno-developed calibration. Comparison tools show which parts match your build.
Placing a motorcycle on a dyno does not inherently guarantee a high-quality tune. Drivability and calibration quality depend heavily on the experience, judgment, and skill of the technician. A Precision Basemap protects the build by giving the technician a fully realized calibration to work from, rather than forcing them to write data tables from scratch.
How matching fits — without proprietary internals
JCES™ evaluates your confirmed motorcycle, tuner, and installed components against available Precision Basemaps. Internal validation rules, compatibility math, and development roadmaps are proprietary and are not published. Public guides describe what matching does for the customer, not the internal formulas.
Roadmap posture
The architecture is tuner-agnostic by design and continues to expand vehicle discovery, comparison mechanics, and checkout validation across supported hardware tuning systems. Current retail delivery remains Power Vision / PV3 / PV4 tune files — see Power Vision guides.

FAQ
Do I need a dealer or shop account to buy a Precision Basemap?
No. Individual riders can create a free customer account and purchase a single Precision Basemap directly. Paid shop memberships are an optional efficiency tier for high-volume commercial businesses.
Do my air cleaner, exhaust, or cam have to match the development bike exactly?
No. The motorcycle determines baseline hardware compatibility. Installed parts help identify and rank the closest available Precision Basemap. A part variance is not a baseline incompatibility. Comparison tools show which components match and which differ before you select.
Does Basemaps.net offer remote tuning or calibration coaching?
No. The platform is self-service: vehicle identification, build description, file ranking, secure payment, and immediate download. It does not provide remote tuning, individual calibration consulting, data-logging coaching, or hardware device training.
How is a Precision Basemap developed?
A Precision Basemap is a completed, dyno-developed calibration from a real session on a compatible motorcycle. Comparison tools show which parts match your build before you buy.
Is Basemaps.net a local dyno shop directory?
The dealer locator finds approved Pro-level dyno shops. The catalog is an online store of Harley-Davidson tune files you match by VIN and download.
Where every Precision Basemap comes from
Every Precision Basemap on Basemaps.net was created from a real dyno session by Matt Smith, owner and architect of Basemaps.net — not generated, simulated, or otherwise made artificially. He built this catalog to help the entire tuning industry share those files.
Each file is sold as it was the day it was created, for the exact combination of parts on the motorcycle in that session — the real deal, nothing turned down. Before a file is offered for sale it passes several quality checks in our system. The catalog operating system applies the same matching rules to every published file so the same VIN, tuner, and parts combination is evaluated the same way.
If you have a concern — or want to give praise
After you buy and download, open your account. Each purchase has Leave Feedback. Use it to rate the Precision Basemap, note a concern, or say what went well. That form is for quality review. It is not phone support and does not open a ticket.
If Find My Tune has no file yet
When the catalog has no match for your bike and parts, you can join the Precision Basemap Waitlist on that empty-results screen. Leave your email and the combination you searched. We email a purchase link when that file is published. That is not a custom map emailed instead of a catalog file, and it is not offered for platforms we do not sell (Sportster and V-Rod).
